LEATHER RUG CARE AND CLEANING GUIDE
Take the hide/rug outside the house, flip it over and gently shake out to remove any dust & embedded particles that has collected in the hide/rug.
During your routine cleaning schedule, gently vacuum in the direction of the hide hair. Use your vacuum’s floor attachment (soft -bristle brush) to brush the hairs in the direction of the grain, while lightly sucking out dust and dirt particles. Never run the vacuum directly over the rug, and do not use rotary cleaning tools. Do not push the hairs up when vacuuming.
THE HIDE'S NATURAL OILS RESIST STAINING, simply wipe up any spills. If there’s a spill, spot clean by hand. Take a damp cloth (not wet) and a squirt of neutral soap worked into foamy state and gently stroke with the grain of hair. Wipe with the hair and not against it. Remove the entire spill with the cloth; once the spill is cleaned, rinse the cloth until it runs clean. Repeat this process & go over the spill several times until all the soap is removed. Dry using a towel running along the nap. Avoid vigorous rubbing. Place some objects like a couple of books underneath the area of the spill to allow in air for drying. The drying should take around 24 hours. When fully dry, brush lightly in direction of the nap.
FOR COMMON SPILLS like wine, coffee, tea, juice, food, soup, urine and vomit – soak up spills with a paper towel or sponge immediately. Remove solid matter with the blunt edge of knife by scraping gently in the direction of the hair. Then wipe with a damp (but not wet) sponge or cloth using mild soapy solution. Rinse with a damp sponge to remove any soap residue. At the last, clean with a damp cloth using a diluted 5% white vinegar and 95% water solution, this balances the PH levels and helps to eliminate any unpleasant odour.

own risk, then first remove the solid matter with the blunt edge of knife by scraping gently in the direction of the hair. Then apply Eucalyptus oil directly to the affected area on a soft cloth by dabbing gently. Finally wipe with a damp (but not wet) sponge or cloth using a mild soapy solution. IN CASE OF PERSISTING STAINS use a soft solution of neutral, non -alkaline soap (no detergent) and warm water in a 1:10 ratio. Apply the solution with a clean sponge and let it air out. Try this method in an open area (avoiding direct sunlight) to make sure that a clean/original color is obtained. If possible, try this method on an inconspicuous area first, to test if it may affect coloring.
Place your hair-on-hide or leather rugs in dry places, especially after spot cleaning. Do not soak the hide/rug or get it wet. On a sunny day you can put the hide/rug outside with the underside facing the sun. If you have a dehumidifier, use it regularly to remove moisture from the room.
The shaped hide does not move much on carpet or wooden floors, the textured underside has natural grip, but you do need to be a bit careful in bare feet on the soft and silky upper side.
Natural undyed hides are fade resistant, however, we recommend avoid placing in direct sunlight (especially the dyed and printed hides & rugs).
Rotate the hide/rug every three months to equalize wear.
DO NOT Dry clean. Do not Bleach. Do not soak the hide or get it wet. Do not wash in a washing machine. This product is for indoor use only. Avoid using in damp areas such as basements, bathrooms and kitchens.
KEEP AWAY from fire place, excessive heat, and sharp pointed objects.
